Groeni guitarist James Paul introduces Gussie Larkin to a couple of his work horses

It takes a hell of a lot of practice to become a guitar freak like James Paul, so you’d want to play a hell of a nice guitar along the way. Many guitars, in fact. Whanganui born James couldn’t pick one, so he showed us every one of them. His go to axe is a classic Japanese Fender Telecaster, while he swears by his Eastman for tasty jazz licks. As a jazz-trained musician, James plays in an array of Wellington bands; from electronic three piece Groeni to afrobeat supergroup The Soldiers of the Pharaoh. James introduces us to a couple of his favourites here...
